Tony Fadell was hired to create the iPod in late January 2001. Steve Jobs greenlit the project in March 2001. They hired a contract manufacturer in April 2001, announced the product in October 2001, and shipped the first production iPod to customers in November 2001, around 290 days after getting started

Our validation results with computational functional prediction tools (such as, Pfam, ProTrek and CLEAN) suggest that they can serve as effective filters for identifying potentially concerning Raygun-generated sequences.

The first round tested 201 submissions, with only 5 (2.5%) showing significant binding, establishing a demanding baseline. We participated in the second round, which was organized following these disappointing results.

Fine-tuning does not diminish diversity: we verified this by generating candidates from 100 sequence-diverse human and mouse proteins using both baseline and fine-tuned models, and across varying noise levels, both versions produced comparable sequence diversity.

good organoid paper treats you kindly, softly. It knows it has hurt you in the past. It must regain your trust. It walks on eggshells around you, tiptoeing around as it explains itself, where it’s been, where it plans to go, cooing away your anxieties each time they arise. In the end, you and it embrace, the organoid promising to never wound you again, and you tearfully admitting that it will, that that is its nature, but you are happy it is trying to do better
Why haven't organoids solved all of drug discovery?
There's a scene where Dr. Banks here is criticized for moving too slowly—for starting with such basic words instead of jumping to ask the question those around her pragmatically care about: "What is your purpose on Earth?"
What is the purpose of interpretability?
Darwin spent years observing the diversity of life and reflecting on those observations. Imagine telling him to "time-box his curiosity" to two weeks.

Later, these PUFA metabolites were classified together and termed specialized pro-resolving mediators (i.e. SPM).

TRPA1
A missense mutation of TRPA1 was found to be the cause of a hereditary episodic pain syndrome. A family from Colombia suffers from debilitating upper-body pain starting in infancy that is usually triggered by fasting or fatigue (illness, cold temperature, and physical exertion being contributory factors).

He rarely attended classes; he self-studied most subjects. My guess is that he felt the professors’ pace was too slow and a waste of time, and that self-studying was faster. The downside was that he missed out on the professor “highlighting key points
