The people who will win are those who can remake themselves again and again: to summit one peak, descend it, and then hike up the next.
The Old World Is Dying: Advice for 2026 graduatesYou can do more than you think you can; you are more malleable than you think you are. You don’t choose the game board but you choose how to play it. Relish the pivots; ride the waves; recite the Serenity Prayer every morning and chase sunsets at night. I won’t tell you that the future’s smooth sailing. But what a thrill to be alive!
The Old World Is Dying: Advice for 2026 graduatesThe point of such persistence is building problem-solving reps. Look for side doors! Actually Try! Phone a friend before giving up! Note every time you accomplish something that looked impossible at first. Insist that you can beat the odds.
The Old World Is Dying: Advice for 2026 graduatesone of the characteristics of greatness is that the next great work never looks like the last one.
Nabeel S. Qureshi | SubstackYou reach out to the world, trusting it, and then you end up in situations and meet people who surprise you and expand your sense of possibility, which gives you more landscapes to explore, and so on and on.
The world reveals itself to those who travel by footit is a game of generated landscapes where the world keeps growing the further you go. You can go out and talk to people and do stuff, and the world opens up vista after vista.
The world reveals itself to those who travel by footViktor was always conjuring small scenes and crafting creative social situations that made me realize how much more interesting life can be if you put some thought into it.
The world reveals itself to those who travel by footI'm in a fortunate enough position that the world is mine
Do Thing, Do One ThingShould I go to this retreat over the weekend? (1) says yes.
Do Thing, Do One ThingYou can normally feel yourself on an exponential. It keeps you so busy and so energized that you don't even have time to contemplate leaving — because that would be ridiculous.
Do Thing, Do One Thinga game is a journey that changes the player.

Microsoft PowerPoint - Mixing_Game_and_Applications.pptxThe person that starts using a game is not the same person that finishes the game
Microsoft PowerPoint - Mixing_Game_and_Applications.pptxIf life goes well for me, I hope my dream relationship will just feel like one long, continuous conversation. I don’t mean that metaphorically, but literally — a never-ending dialogue of becoming.
the key to love is understanding - by maja - velvet noiseeven down to playing piano and having the finger dexterity to remember what’s going on, all of these things are physical acts that are born from repetition.
Musician Choker on having a point of view – The Creative IndependentWe’re in these bodies. Everything we do is physical.
Musician Choker on having a point of view – The Creative IndependentSo much of sports, to me, is repetition, repetition, repetition. Training and then executing in that clutch moment when it actually counts, when all that work comes down to one moment.
Musician Choker on having a point of view – The Creative IndependentMy games are weird science experiments that I’m playing around with—dabbling, trying. They’re fun and they’re exciting, but if this science experiment doesn’t work, it can go in the bin. Or bits of it can go in the bin.
Game designer Hazel Reynolds on feedback being the best part – The Creative IndependentSimone Giertz recommends this flowchart of questions she asks herself if she’s feeling overwhelmed or cranky at work: When did I last eat? Have I slept enough? When was the last time I did something for my body, not just for my brain? Is there anything that I can delegate or take off my list? Does what I work on align with who I want to be?
Product designer Simone Giertz on refusing to abandon (most) projects – The Creative IndependentI interviewed Philip Glass who’s like in his 80s and he was like, “I have to practice every day.”
Product designer Simone Giertz on refusing to abandon (most) projects – The Creative IndependentSuccess is also: is [the product] unique and novel? That’s something I’m trying with every project that I do: is it something you haven’t seen before or a different approach to a really normal problem that people have?
Product designer Simone Giertz on refusing to abandon (most) projects – The Creative Independentif I’m really proud of the thing that we’re putting out.
Product designer Simone Giertz on refusing to abandon (most) projects – The Creative IndependentIt’s cool how it ebbs and flows and you’ll discover a new way to approach it that solves [a] problem–and then maybe [that] causes new problems. There’s nothing consistent about it.
Product designer Simone Giertz on refusing to abandon (most) projects – The Creative IndependentI always try to end up somewhere, even if it’s not where I imagined I would end up in the beginning of it.
Product designer Simone Giertz on refusing to abandon (most) projects – The Creative IndependentAdapt, don’t abandon.
Product designer Simone Giertz on refusing to abandon (most) projects – The Creative IndependentIf you could somehow give evolution a sense of embarrassment, so if every time it produced a fish with no fins or a bird with no wings, it felt a deep sense of shame and promised to be more careful next time – evolution would no longer work.
Willingness to look stupid is a genuine moat in creative workthe amount of stupidity you're willing to tolerate is directly proportional to the quality of ideas you'll eventually produce. I'll call this Aadil’s Law.
Willingness to look stupid is a genuine moat in creative workIt’s about creating dialogue between the product and the person using it.
Why Otherkind’s founders built the design studio they wished existed — The Brand Identity – Home of the Greatest in Brand & DesignProtecting the creative process doesn’t mean fighting constraints. It means reshaping them with care so we don’t hollow out the work to hit a deadline.
Why Otherkind’s founders built the design studio they wished existed — The Brand Identity – Home of the Greatest in Brand & DesignI want Otherkind to be known as the studio that shaped tasteful products at pivotal moments.
Why Otherkind’s founders built the design studio they wished existed — The Brand Identity – Home of the Greatest in Brand & DesignI want Otherkind to be known as a place where designers can actually enjoy their work and do the best work of their lives.
Why Otherkind’s founders built the design studio they wished existed — The Brand Identity – Home of the Greatest in Brand & DesignBut the one question we never skip is asking if we are having fun. When joy fades, something needs to change.
Why Otherkind’s founders built the design studio they wished existed — The Brand Identity – Home of the Greatest in Brand & DesignWhen everyone can publish, someone must filter. When everyone can connect, someone must curate. When everyone can build, someone must integrate. The infrastructure of freedom becomes the architecture of coordination.

2025: A life built from the daysIt’s a good practice in detaching your self-worth from your work but at the end of the day it still feels like it sucks the marrow out of your bones.
2025: A life built from the daysAll that matters is that you enjoy your work.
'I Can't Stop Comparing Myself to More Successful Writers!'it doesn’t get any better than this.
'I Can't Stop Comparing Myself to More Successful Writers!'The temptation to be someone else is greatest for the young. They often feel like nobodies. But you never need to worry about that problem, because it's self-solving if you work on sufficiently ambitious projects. If you succeed at an ambitious project, you're not a nobody; you're the person who did it. So just do the work and your identity will take care of itself.
How to Do Great WorkMaybe our ai tools could feel more like our memory--vibrant in some areas, faded in others--a scaffold that feels navigable and retrievable.
lele's portfolio“What is the ceiling-raising version of this?” It generally leads to much more ambitious thinking.
Inside Cursor - ColossusThe company’s stance is very much that other companies can focus on lowering the floor, while Cursor will focus on raising the ceiling.
Inside Cursor - ColossusIf your colleagues move fast, you do. If your colleagues are responsive on Slack, you are. If your colleagues go home for dinner, you do. If your colleagues come into the office on Saturday, you do. The default setting at Cursor is fast. And most people are happily, not begrudgingly, excited to meet the demand.
Inside Cursor - Colossusdon’t chase chaos when peace is what you prayed for.
when you're choosing a life partner, think beyond romanceI keep hearing myself start stories with the words “I saw this reel the other day” and wishing that those stories were instead about things I had experienced first-hand in the real world.
Live in the future, build what's missing. We fail a lot, but we get better and better at it. Once you have the intention of having no internet access, you can analyze each time you fail and figure out how you can update your routines to make yourself less likely to fail in that way in the future. Over time, that starts to converge toward better and better habits.
How I read - by Henrik Karlsson - Escaping Flatlandpeople mostly like intellectual podcasts because it gives them the illusion of learning without the actual effort required to really learn.
How I read - by Henrik Karlsson - Escaping FlatlandIn seven hours, I can read a book of thoughts that someone spent two years thinking. There are few ways of spending seven hours that can compete with that.
How I read - by Henrik Karlsson - Escaping FlatlandReading seriously changes your brain so that the world that comes at you grows more nuanced and interesting and filled with affordances that let you do things you didn’t know were possible. Serious reading compounds.
How I read - by Henrik Karlsson - Escaping FlatlandThat is, I spend 5–20 minutes gathering information that lets me evaluate if the book deserves to work on my brain.
How I read - by Henrik Karlsson - Escaping FlatlandYeah, but it's bringing the world into me. I'm reading a book and it's interesting, but unless I stop and actually write about it and put my own words to it, I'm not going to make it into my body and become part of my, I'm not going to be transformed by it. I want to be changed by life. I want to grow and change all the time. I want to be affected by life.
