The UMGC’s new Model Organism Sequencing Service (MOSS) offers cost-effective, high-throughput whole-genome sequencing for the workhorse model organisms Drosophila melanogaster and Caenorhabditis elegans, with other model organisms to be added in the coming months. MOSS includes comprehensive support, from library preparation and sequencing to downstream bioinformatics analysis. Researchers receive sequence reads (FASTQs), alignment files (CRAMs), variant call files (VCFs), and an analysis report that includes the identification and mapping of commonly used insertion elements, enabling seamless data interpretation.  Sequencing is performed at 30x coverage on the new Ultima UG 100 sequencer, providing a robust depth for genome analysis. Higher coverage options are available upon request. The UMGC welcomes requests for other model organisms—contact us for details and a quote. For researchers who do not require analysis, we offer low-cost whole-genome sequencing on the UG 100 for any organ
